Kate Vitela lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband, Phillip, her stepsons, and their rescue dog, Marley.
She has been a Registered Nurse for over two decades. When she got sober in 2018, she shifted her focus and career to mental health. She is board-certified in Psychiatric Mental-Health Nursing and a Certified Addiction RN.
As a lifelong fashion lover, she began writing “Walk Your Talk” for The Sober Curator, a recovery-focused lifestyle magazine, in 2021. The blog merges fashion, self-image, style, and how it plays out in her recovery journey.
Writing about fashion psychology has led Kate down many roads, from modeling to becoming an official Break Free NYFW initiative board member. A non-profit organization dedicated to fundraising for mental health and addiction causes.
Regardless of why she is in the spotlight, Kate lives by the mantra,” I am a walking miracle; I will strut accordingly.”
Over the years, she has realized her passion and gift is using her voice on paper and stage. She has been the guest speaker for several podcasts, virtual events, and live gatherings.
She speaks authentically about addiction, disordered eating & mental health. Her story also includes professional revitalization and resurrection through recovery. Kate will share captivating stories about vicarious trauma, moral injury, burnout, and self-forgiveness throughout her nursing career.
Her medical knowledge, scientific insight, and lived experiences make for a powerful testimony.
