Kate Vitela lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband, Phillip, her stepsons, and their rescue dog, Oscar. A Registered Nurse for over two decades, Kate became sober in 2018 and shifted her career to focus on mental health. She is board-certified in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing and a Certified Addiction RN.
A lifelong fashion enthusiast, Kate began writing “Walk Your Talk” for The Sober Curator in 2021, blending recovery, self-image, and style. This led her to walking for Break Free NYFW, an initiative dedicated to mental health and addiction awareness.
Kate’s mantra, “I am a walking miracle; I will strut accordingly,” reflects her bold approach to life and recovery. She shares her story authentically, addressing addiction, disordered eating, burnout, and self-forgiveness, combining her medical expertise with lived experience.
Kate also writes a blog, You’ve Been Selected, chronicling her journey to becoming a coach and launching her upcoming podcast. Focused on discovering purpose after hitting rock bottom, the podcast dives into spirituality, personal growth, and the infinite possibilities that emerge when we rise from our darkest moments.
As a coach, Kate works with individuals 1:1 and in group settings, offering tools and support for recovery, emotional resilience, and personal transformation. She also serves as a host for The Sober Mom Squad weekly meetings, fostering connection and support among women navigating recovery.
Known for her sharp wit and unapologetic humor, Kate isn’t afraid to keep it real. She signs off her podcast episodes with her signature line: “Peace within and bullshit out.” It’s a reminder to embrace inner calm while unapologetically releasing what no longer serves you.
